Others have spoken of how it works well, so I offer a small detail of our experience of it. We had originally bought PIU 'PICKS no pressure mounted baby gate for our stairs. However, I realized the meeting was too complicated, so instead we bought a further KidCo G15. We already had two and am very pleased with its simplicity and quality.
One side of the stairs is a wall, did not provide any problems. The other is a wrought ironIron gate, they put a lot of problems. At first I had my own Y-spindle, then realized when I got really need two, one for the top (as shown in the image of Y-spindle) and the other for the bottom (not shown). We have our second and installed and could not be happier. It's so easy and so simple in comparison to other methods, I discovered that I very much recommend it to anyone dealing with a similar problem.
